The Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church Preschool Art Show 2019
I don't think outside of the box- I think about what i can do with the box
The “Welcome to Our Neighborhood” installation was inspired by the idea that if a child is given a simple cardboard box their imagination can take them anywhere.
My Three-year-old class first learned about the people and places in their neighborhood. We collected cardboard boxes and primed them all white while we thought about what kinds of buildings they could find in their neighborhood. Then each child, there are 14 kids, was given one side of the cardboard box and asked to create a building from their neighborhood. Paint and additional supplies used were all leftover yet reusable materials from other art projects throughout the year.
Our class also worked with clay to create a flower garden complete with clay bugs and mosaic flowers. Each petal of the flowers is created using a different artistic technique.
My fellow teachers are an inspiration to me. These are just a few of the projects that their students worked on for the Art Show.
The Art program here at FCPC Preschool is beyond excellent. These hanging flowers were all made from reclaimed materials, plastics mostly, found in and collected by the preschool.
